Fine, rare and unusual, 8-day going, hour and half-hour striking, gilt-brass carriage clock with musical movement playing one of three tunes, triple-date calendar and moon phases. Multi-piece, Anglaise riche, gilt-brass, fl uted corinthian pillars, molded top and base, the top with glazed aperture to view the escapement, glazed on four sides, the base containing the musical movement with beaded toupie feet. White enamel annular chapter ring with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, the center painted with clouds and a starry sky with aperture for the moon phases, three white enamel dials below for the date, days of the week and months, matte gilt dial mask. Blued steel Breguet hands. Rectangular brass plates, going barrels for both trains, lateral lever escapement on a frosted silvered platform, cut bimetallic compensation balance, fl at balance spring, index regulator, striking on a gong, the musical movement activated via the clock movement with pinned brass barrel, single-piece steel comb with 37 tuned teeth, fl y governor. Dim. 16.5 x 11.3 x 10 cm. Notes French musical carriage clocks are rare. The present clock is particularly interesting in having a musical movement in the base activated by the clock movement and the additional features of triple date calendar and moon phases.
