BROCOT CARRIAGE CLOCK A LA JAPONAISE Achille Brocot, French, No. 302. Made in the Japanese taste, circa 1890. Fine and rare, gilt and silvered brass 8-day going, hour and half-hour striking carriage clock with repeating. Multi-piece, “Anglaise”, gilt-brass, the top with glazed aperture to view the escapement, the sides with panels of silvered and gilt brass chased with Japanese fi gures amongst bamboo foliage, hinged handle. Circular annular matte silvered with radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions and Arabic fi ve-minute numerals, dial mask chased with fl owers and bamboo foliage with fi gures feeding three quails at the bottom, center to match. Blued steel hands. Rectangular brass plates, going barrels for both trains, straight line lever escapement on a matte gilt platform, monometallic balance with temperature adjustment screws, fl at balance spring, index regulator, striking and repeating on a gong. Movement punched AB within a star for Achille Brocot. Dim. 15 x 9.6 x 8.5 cm. Excluding handle.
