ROLEX ‘TURN-O-GRAPH’ REF. 6202 Rolex, Geneve, Oyster Perpetual “Turn-O-Graph,” case No. 952530, Ref. 6202. Made in 1953. Fine and unusual, center seconds, self-winding, water resistant, stainless steel wristwatch with revolving Thunderbird bezel and a Rolex stainless steel riveted link Oyster bracelet with folding clasp stamped 1.61 C. Three-body, polished and brushed, screwed-down case back and crown, bidirectional revolving reeded bezel embossed with Arabic numerals in relief for 60-minute graduation (probably from reference 6609 or 1625), inner case back stamped IV.53 D. Black with luminous round, triangular and baton indexes, outer minute/seconds track. Luminous steel skeleton hands. M. Cal. 620, rhodium-plated, 19 jewels, straight line-lever escapement, monometallic balance, shock absorber, selfcompensating Breguet balance spring. Dial, case and movement signed. DIAM. 35 mm. THICKNESS 12 mm. Approx. overall length 180 mm. Notes The current example is an interesting variation. Usually found with the black revolving bezel, the Deluxe versions was offered with a gold bezel and usually fitted with honeycomb dials. It is unclear if the owner preferred the more elegant look of the Thunderbird bezel and decided to swap it out at the time but the example has been wonderfully conserved with a clean and crisp case and a wonderfully patinated dial.
