Made for Gondolo & Labouriau, Relojoeiros, Rio de Janeiro and Dr. Eduardo Leite Velloso, sold on March 3rd, 1915. Very fine and rare, thin, 18K gold, keyless pocket watch. Accompanied by the Extract from the Archives C. Four-body, bassine, polished, engine-turned back with engraved monogram ELV. Hinged gold cuvette with engraved Gondolo inscription. D. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and red 24-hour numerals, inscribed `Dr. Eduardo Leite Velloso`, subsidiary seconds. Gold spde hands. M. 18‘‘‘, rhodium plated, fausses cotes decoration, 18 jewels, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with 8 adjustments, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator. Dial, case, cuvette and movement signed. DIAM. 46.5 mm. Notes The Extract from the Archives confirms that this watch was sold on 3rd March, 1915. The enamel dial with Roman numerals, Ultra-Thin movement and case with engine-turned back and engraved initials ELV are also confirmed. It is very unusual to find a thin Chronometro Gondolo the movement of which differs from the usual Gondolo specifications. It is likely that this was by special request of Dr. Velloso for whom the watch was made.
