VACHERON CHOSSAT – FINE ENAMEL QUARTER REPEATING WATCH WITH ORIGINAL BOX Vacheron Chossat & Cie. à Genève, No. 6498. Made 1816-1819. Very fine and rare, 18K. gold, painted on enamel and pearl-set, quarter repeating watch. Accompanied by the original gold-tooled red morocco fitted box. Notes This very attractive watch has remained in extremely good condition and is complete with the original box. The fine gold and enamel dial and movement with quarter-repeating further enhances the beauty of this watch. It can be dated quite accurately to the years 1816-1819 because Barthélemy Vacheron only signed his watches Vacheron Chossat & Cie for this short period. The name Chossat was that of Vacheron’s wife Cathérine whom he had married in 1810, from this date he called himself Vacheron-Chossat. In 1819, Jaques Barthélemy Vacheron and François Constantin formed a new firm – Vacheron & Constantin.
