Chinese, Late 19th/Early 20th century, possibly earlier. Pair of carved ivory foo or fu dogs (guardian lions), likely made for export market. Each dog depicted with curled fur on top of head, alert eyes, wide nose above open snarling mouth. Dogs seated on oval lotus form base with triangular bunting cloth. Male and female represented with traditional baby foo dog and orb. Each marked on bottom. Approximate height 4", width 2.1", depth 2.5".
