French, circa 1790. A fine Louis XVI beech wood carved bergere chair attributed to Georges Jacob (French, 1739-1814, maître in 1765), having a curving upholstered panel back flanked by fluted pilaster stiles surmounted with foliate finials, the padded arm with patera headed turned supports enclosing the padded sides and loose cushion bow front seat, on turned tapered fluted legs headed with patera blocks. The whole covered in ice blue with beige gold Scalamandre style silk damask with additional fabric. Approximate height 36.8", width 26" (arm to arm), seat depth 18.5", seat height 15".
