THE RISING SUN TABLE CLOCK Probably Swiss. Made in the early 19th century. Fine and very unusual, rack and pinion, `rising`, marble, gilt-brass and steel table clock with calendar and glass shade. Square marble base with quartz column above with ormolu base, toothed steel rack extending from the plinth on which the clock is mounted, engraved sunray gilt-brass bezel. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and Arabic five-minute numerals, inner calendar numerals 1-31. Gilt hands, blued steel calendar hands. 55 mm., circular brass plates, baluster pillars, toothed wheel engaging with the rack to provide power to the train via a spring barrel, verge escapement with cowtail pendulum.
