Pair of matching Chinese cloisonne censers in the form of Bixi (also coined Pi-hsi or Bi Xi) with dragon head and turtle body. Each figure with removable shell form lid with pierced top or cover under pointed candle pricket. Lid decorated with red flowers and scrolling above lappet ring surrounded by hexagonal diaper pattern on shell that lifts to reveal space within body. Exterior of body with bird forms and scrolling. Mythical beast with four animal feet and almond form tail. Apparently unmarked. Approximate height 5.75", width 6.5", depth 2.5".
