ROLEX REF. 6239 GRENE/TROPICAL DIAL, DOUBLE SWISS Rolex "Cosmograph", case No.923070, Ref. 6239. Made circa 1962. Very fine and rare, water-resistant, stainless steel wristwatch with round button chronograph, registers, tachometer, steel bezel graduated to 300 UPH and a stainless steel Rolex Oyster bracelet with deployant clasp. Three-body, polished and brushed, curved lugs, tachometer on the bezel graduated to 300 units per hour, screwed down case back. Bicolor silver and brown with applied faceted steel baton indexes and luminous dots, outer minutes/seconds divisions, subsidiary brown guilloche dials for the seconds, the 12-hour and 30-minute registers. Luminous steel baton hands. Cal. 72B, rhodium-plated, 17 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance adjusted to 3 positions, shock absorber, self-compensating free- sprung Breguet balance spring, Microstella regulating screws. Notes Dial, case and movement signed. DIAM. 37 mm. THICKNESS 14 mm. Approx. overall length 180 mm. Undoubtedly one of the rarest versions of the 6239. Having been conserved in all original condition, the first unusual factor is the white grene dial, which is matt and is closer to white than the later silver glossy dials usually found on later versions. Furthermore its sub-counters have turned to a wonderful dark brown patina, combined with the rare double swiss signature on the dial.
