ROLEX, REF. 2562, STEEL BLACK DIAL Rolex, retailed by C. Bucherer, case No. 22411, Ref. 2507. Made in 1928. Very fine and extremely rare, stainless steel wristwatch with rectangular- shaped button chronograph, register, tachometer and telemeter. Three-body, solid, polished, snap-on case back, concave lugs. Black with baton indexes and Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds and 30-minute register dials, outer telemeter graduation, at the center, spiral tachometric scale graduated in 360. Stainless steel hands. Cal 12 1/2''', rhodium-plated, 17 jewels, straight line lever escapement, monometallic balance, self-compensating Breguet balance spring. Notes Dial, case and movement signed. DIAM. 36 mm. THICKNESS 12 mm. It is rare that an unknown reference surfaces especially in Rolex chronographs, but this example illustrates this perfectly. Discovered recently in Switzerland (which makes sense considering it is retailed by C. Bucherer), this reference 2562 is not found in any literature. Part of the family of early Rolex chronographs it features the often found dials featuring the spiral tachometer scale in the center but unusually features a large steel bezel. Measuring in at a nice 36mm.and an untouched original patinated dial, it has never been seen at auction before.
