Made circa 1887. Very fine and extremely rare, quarter-repeating, two-train 18K pink gold and damascened keyless pocket watch with independent jump center-seconds. Four-body, bassine et filets, polished, the back cover with a finely engraved foliate monogram "AC" on a damascened and gold repeated pattern ground, slide on the band for the jump center-seconds. Hinged engine-turned gold cuvette. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute and seconds track with Arabic five-minute/seconds numerals. Gold stone-set hands. 19''', matte gilt, two-train with tandem winding, 29 jewels, counterpoised and calibrated straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with gold temperature and meantime adjustment screws, blued steel Breguet balance spring with overcoil, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band. Cuvette signed Vacheron & Constantin, Genève, Veuve C. Vacheron & Cie, Notes Successeurs, movement signed Veuve C. Vacheron & Cie. DIAM. 53 mm. The present watch is an unusually fine and complicated example by Vacheron Constantin/Veuve C. Vacheron and in excellent condition. Veuve C. Vacheron is the signature the company used between 1870 and 1887. This watch is therefore relatively late in production under the Veuve C. Vachero
