CARTIER MINUTE REPEATING DESK CLOCK Cartier. Made circa 1910. Very fine and extremely rare, minute-repeating, silver and enamel, keyless desk clock. Square, the upper section entirely decorated with translucent violet guilloche enamel with white champlevé enamel borders, the rectangular base overlaid with translucent green guilloche enamel with white champlevé enamel borders, the sides of the base with gold paillon wreath garlands, fluted yellow gold bezel, large winding crown/repeating button decorated with stripes of white and violet enamel and set with a cabochon amethyst. Matte silver with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, sunray engine-turned center. Gold fleur-de-lys hands. 68 mm., circular, matte gilt, jeweled to the center, straight line lever escapement, notched bimetallic compensation balance, Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by depressing the winding crown. Notes Dial signed, the interior of the base scratch-numbered "155811". DIM. 12.2 x 9.8 x 4.5 cm. A fine and original minute-repeating clock of unusual form with keyless winding. At some time in the past the base-plate has been replaced and therefore the punch-number usually found there has been lost. This does not of course detract from the excellent condition of the enamel and the visual beauty of the clock.
