Dodane, Type 21, circa 1955. Fine, water-resistant, stainless steel military wristwatch with retour en vol round button chronograph and register. three body, polished, screwed case back, revolving reeded bezel, lapidated lugs. black with radiumcoated Arabic numerals, auxiliary seconds and 30 minutes register dials. "Skeleton" radium-coated hands. Notes Among the Manufactures selected to supply watches to the French Army Forces, Dodane had an important position. The Manufacture was founded in 1857 by Alphonse Dodane in Besancon. Beside the fact of providing their assistance for the general overhaulding of all Type XX watches in production, they distinguished in making wrist chronometers and desk instruments for aircrafts. At the beginning, they also had their own movements in the Type XX wristwatches, then they used various Valjoux calibers, among them the 720, which was used for a small series supplied to NATO in the 1970's. The present watch, Type 21, is also equipped with the 720 Caliber.
