Swiss, circa 1780. Fine and rare silver pedometer. Double body, Louis XV, polished White enamel with Arabic three concentric scales, respectively calibrated for 1 to 6, 1 to 100 and 1 to 360 miles. Gilt brass Louis XV hands. Hinged gilt brass full plate with square baluster pillars and three pull cord operated superimposed click works. Diam. 51 mm. Notes Literature A virtually identical pedometer from the Ernest Bore] Collection in Neuchatel, was wrongly described as English made and illustrated by Alfred Chapuis and Eugene Jacquet in La montre automatique ancienne, un siecle et demie d'laistoire, Neuchatel 1952, p. 93, fig. 117-118.
