Simon Lalemant a Blois, French, circa 1690. Fine silver early balance-spring watch with alarm. Double body, bassine with split bezel, the band pierced and engraved with inhabited foliage, centred with the revolving alarm setting disc. Silver champleve with Roman numerals. Single blued steel hand and pointer. Hinged gilt brass full plate with Egyptian pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain short flat balance spring, rack and pinion regulator with silver disc, fine silver Louis XIV cock pierced and chased with foliage and birds. Alarm train with gilt brass fixed barrel engraved with scrolled foliage, striking on a bell. Signed on the back plate. Diam. 54 mm.
