Berthoud & Favre, London, No. 10036, made for the Chinese Market, circa 1800. Fine and unusual gilt bronze, astronomical, centre seconds table timepiece with date, age of the moon and 1/5 second "foudroyante. The movement is supported by a lion, an eagle and foliage on the top, the base designed as a rock, with roots and further vegetation. Gilt brass full plate with turned pillars, fusee with chain, cylinder escapement, plain steel three-arm balance, blued steel flat balance spring, gilt brass English cock with ruby end-stone. Signed on the back plate. Dim. 35 x 18 x 10 mm.
