Swiss Patent No. 18543, made for Hausmann & Co., Roma - Napoli, circa 1890. Fine and rare 18K gold hunting cased, moon phase, astronomical, keyless minute repeating Grande Sonnerie clock watch with perpetual calendar, in original burr walnut fitted box. Four body, massive, "bassine et filets " , polished. Hinged gold cuvette. White enamel with Roman numerals, outer Arabic minute ring, subsidiary dials for the days of the week, the months of the leap-year cycle, the date and the seconds with inner moon phase aperture. Blued steel "spade" hands. Notes This type of minute repeating Grande Sonnerie clock watch movements, carillon on three gongs with stacked hammers but without Petite Sonnerie, were usually commercialised by Zenith. Such watches also fitted with a perpetual calendar are extremely rare. Provenance From a descendant of the Sacchetti family. The Sacchetti Family The Sacchetti family, of Italian aristocracy, goes back many centuries. By tradition of Roman origin, it is also recorded in Florence in the I th and 12th centuries. It is a fact that at the beginning of the 14th century, the Sacchetti family was considered one of the most powerful of Florence, as confirmed by Dante's verses in Paradiso: Canto XVI, v. 103-5 grande era gid la colonna del Vaio, Sacchetti, Giuochi, Fifanti e Barucci, e Galli, e quei the arrossan per lo staio.
