Coliau a Paris, No. 984, circa 1775. "Bacchus and Ariadne" Fine gilt brass and enamel pair cased watch. Double body glazed gilt brass outer protecting case, the inner double body Louis XV, the back enamel panel painted with a scene depicting Bacchus and Ariadne visited by Cupid, the inside enamel backing painted en grisaille, with a traveller. White enamel with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute ring. Gold Louis XV hands. Hinged gilt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass continental cock with polished steel end-piece. Signed on the dial and back plate. Diam 47 mm.
