Bulletin de Première classe de l'Observatoire National de Besançon No. 9234, in 1913, was awarded the Gold Medal with a total of 236 marks, in original fitted leather box. Three body, massive, "bassine", polished. Hinged gold cuvette engraved with the awarded prize. Two tone white enamel, with Roman numerals, outer minute ring and sunk subsidiary seconds. Blued steel "spade" hands. Notes Timing Contest:- Mean average daily rate 2.52- Error of compensation at 20° - 0.044- Mean error in 2 positions - 0.29- Restart period + 0.40The punch mark in form of a viper's head is set by the Observatory of Besançon on watches successful at the contest and awarded the Bulletin de Première classe.With a total of 236 marks, this chronometer was among the best ever tested in The Observatory of Besançon; it was awarded the Gold Medal and missed the Cup, the highest distinction for less than fourteen marks.
