Jaeger, Swiss, made in the 1940’s. Fine and unusual eight-day going, musical alarm clock with automaton scene. Black lacquered, designed as a small Neuchâteloise bracket clock, the automaton scene aperture below the dial. Gilt brass with Roman numerals on a polished chapter ring, the frosted centre decorated with a sun. Gilt brass “Louis XV” hands. Driven by the musical train by means of cam and levers, the automaton scene, below the dial, features a maiden pumping water in a fountain where a horse is drinking, the rider holding a falcon on his hand. Nickel plated with going barrel, lever escapement, monometallic balance, flat balance spring. Musical train with pined cylinder and tuned steel toothed comb and fly regulator, released for the alarm and playing A la claire fontaine.Signed on the case.Dim. 130 x 105 mm.
