Girard-Perregaux, Chaux-de-Fonds, No. 66306,circa 1880.Very fine and rare 18K gold, double face, moon phase, astronomical, keyless watch with triple calendar, Patented by Courvoisier Jonaïs on June 27, 1871, No. 122. Three-body, massive, “bassine et filets,”, polished with reeded band and glazed back. Black enamel on the front with gilt Roman numerals, outer minutes ring and sunk subsidiary seconds. Gold paste-set hands. Black enamel on the rear face, the dates on the border with moon phase aperture and subsidiary dials for the months and the days of the week. 19’’’ nickel plated, 17 jewels, gold wheel train, counterpoised straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance sprin. Hinged nickel plated calendar work driven by the movement.Signed on the dial, case, movement and calendar work.Courvoisier Jonaïs coat-of-arms punched on the movement.Diam. 52 mm. Notes A similar watch without the phases of the moon, also punched with the Courvoisier Jonaïs coat-of-arms, was sold by Antiquorum, Geneva, April 1996, lot 491.
