Auguste Courvoisier, No. 58433, Swiss,made for Abdulmecid, Pasha of the Ottoman Empire, circa 1850.The enamel in the manner of Aimé Julien Troll.Very fine, 18K gold and enamel hunting-cased, double calendar watch, the cover with the painted coat of arms of the Pasha, the back with a view of the Bosphorus. Four-body, solid, “bassine et filets”, the band pendant and bow with azure champlevé enamelled decoration, the enamel cover painted with the arms of Abdulmecid Pasha, the border with white champlevé enamelled decoration, the back with a fine view of the Bosphorus, Constantinople on the background, within blue and red translucent enamel interlaced ribbon and further champlevé decoration. Hinged gold cuvette with engine-turned border. Gold with Turkish numerals, the centre engraved with folige, gold cast foliate decoration on the edge. Blued steel Breguet hands. 16’’’, gilt brass, bar calibre with going barrel, 8 jewels, cylinder escapement, plain steel three-arm balance, flat balance spring with regulator.Signed on the cuvette.Diam. 42 mm.
