Three-body, heart-shaped, designed to be mounted on a belt, the enamel back with paste set border, painted with a pastoral scene; hinged concealed compartment for two erotic scenes depicting the warmest mutual agreements. heart-shaped silver with engraved Roman numerals and further decoration. Blued steel hands. Hinged full plate by Piot & Panchard with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass continental cockwith polished steel end-piece.Signed on the back plate.Dim. 90 x 70 mm., including the bow. Notes Such fancy watches were produced in China, mainly in Canton in the early years of the 19th century, with elements (movement and enamel panels), imported from Europe. The heart-shaped enamel panels of this piece are very similar to those, produced in England usually found on watches made by James Cox, for the Chinese Market.
