Austrian, circa 1860. “Eine Mühle am Rhein”Fine two-day going hour and quarter striking and repeating clock painting with music. Gilt wood framed oil on canvas, featuring a lakeside Austrian lanscape, a water mill on the left side, a church on the right, the clock fitted on the bell-tower. White chapter ring with Roman numerals and blue turquoise centre. Blued steel “scoties” hands. Brass square, the going train with fixed barrel, revolving arbor, verge escapement with short pendulum with spring suspension. Fixed barrels with revolving arbors both for the hour and the quarter strikng trains, both striking on gong. Independent musical train, playing at will with 17 cm. pinned cylinder and a tuned teeth comb.Dim. 100 x 75 cm., including the frame.
