Frosted silver with Roman numerals. 18’’’, frosted and silvered, 8 jewels, Bagnolet inverted caliber with the free standing barrel and the train of wheel sunk in the single plate engraved on the reverse with a gilt floral decoration. Cylinder escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring with regulator. Female winding squares.Signed on the cuvette.Diam. 44 mm. Notes Accompanied by the Extract from the Archives.To our knowledge, this is the only Patek Philippe & Cie.'renversé' movement which has ever appeared at auction.Caliber so-called 'Bagnolet' or 'renversé'.This is a special caliber for extra-flat watches. The movement is reversed and the dial fitted on the side with the bridges and wheels, the latter revolving in the opposite direction. The barrel-arbor and the time-setting arbor are pierced to allow for the square male key.
