Peter Chapeau, London, No. 1190, with London hallmarks for 1746.Very fine small silver triple-cased, quarter repeating coach watch with early cylinder escapement. Original crank key. Hinged fire-gilded full platwith turned pillars, fusee with chain, cylinder escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, brass escape wheel, overbanking pin on the balance staff, gilt brass cock pierced and engraved with a mask and foliage, diamond endstone. Repeating on a bell by depressing the pendant, small pin at the edge of the case to change for dumb repeating, the repeating train with gilded motor barrel engraved with decoration. Gilded brass dust-cap.Signed on the dial, gilt brass dust-cap and back plate.Diam. 79 mm.
