Patek Philippe & Cie, Genève, No. 1119014, case No. 314565, Ref. 3448. Production of this reference startedin 1962.Extremely fine and unique, self-winding, 18K yellow gold gentleman's wristwatch with perpetual calendar.Accompanied by an 18K yellow gold Patek Philippe buckle. three-body, solid, polished and brushed. Notes Ref. 3448Produced in 586 examples from 1962 to 1982, with the caliber 27-460 Q, the majority in yellow gold, rarely in pink orwhite gold. This series began with the serial number 1119000.The present wristwatch was sold to an important client of Patek Philippe who in fact wanted a watch without moonphases. He therefore asked the manufacture to make a special dial concealing this function. Patek Philippe executed theorder, leaving the lunar mechanism inside, which makes the present wristwatch unique in its genre since to ourknowledge no other wristwatch has had this particular transformation. Another wristwatch with this reference ismentioned in the 1998 edition of Patek Philippe's book, as having been modified by taking out the moon phases andadding a dial, concentric to the days of the month graduation, for the leap year indication.A similar watch is published in 'Patek Philippe, Wristwatches', by MARTIN HUBER and ALAN BANBERY, PatekPhilippe S.A., Geneva, 1998 Edition, page 289, but this watch is a unique example and bears the indication of the leapyear concentric to the days of the month graduation.
