Four-body, "Empire", massive, box-hinged, polished covers with engraved edges, vermicelli band, gold hinged cuvette. white enamel, Roman numerals, outer minute and fifth-seconds ring with five-minute Arabic minute/seconds markers, sunk subsidiary seconds. Blued steel "Parallel Spade" hands. 18 size, nickel, 3/4 plate, damascened, 17 jewels in settings, straight line calibrated lever escapement, cut-bimetallic compensation balance with gold screws, blued steel Breguet balance spring, golchronograph wheels, safety pinion.Signed on the dial and movement. Movement also engraved, "Pat. Sept. 28.80. Eng. Pat. No.3224", "Patd. August 23rd 1887",Diam.53.6 mm. Notes One of only a few complicated watches produced by American companies utilizing both Henry Lugrin's chronograph patent and Georges Aubert's repeater patent. Each assigned his rights to P. Nordmann of New York City (see Lot 49 for the chronograph patent).
