Lancaster, Pennsylvania painted dower chest by the Embroidery Artist, dated 1788 , the molded lift lid decorated with a central cartouche in black, red and white with tulip and geometric border, stylized stars in the corners, over a case with a central heart inscribed "Maria Stohlern 1788", flanked by tombstone panels with tulips and stars, over a midmolding above 2 short drawers with stars, resting on straight bracket feet, all on a blue ground, 27" h. , 52" w., 23" d.
