Very fine and rare, flared, rectangular "bombé", "Pagoda" shaped, 18K yellow gold and diamonds lady's wristwatch with an 18K yellow gold Patek Philippe buckle. two-body, flared rectangular, solid, polished, concave sides. matte silver with 14 diamond-set indexes. "Epée" yellow gold hands. Notes The "Pagoda" series was specially produced in 1997 to mark the inauguration of Patek Philippe's new watchmaking manufacture in Geneva. 2 limited editions were issued, Ref. 5500, the Gentleman’s model, in 2000 examples and Ref. 4900, the Lady’s model, in 750 examples. Destruction of the tools and dies used in the production of the Pagoda ensured that these references, 5500 and 4900, could no longer be produced. To further ensure their exclusivity, each edition came in different metals for the cases and was produced in the following quantities: Ref. 5500J – 1100 in 18K yellow gold, Ref. 5500R – 500 in 18K rose gold, Ref. 5500G – 250 in 18K white gold and Ref. 5500P – 150 in platinum. Ref. 4900J - 500 in 18K yellow gold, Ref. 4900 R - 150 in 18K rose gold and Ref. 4900G - 100 in 18K white gold. The "Pagoda" limited edition sets were produced in 5 examples only. Patek Philippe’s first commemorative timepieces ever, the Pagodas drew their inspiration from Patek’s famous 1940"s "Eiffel tower" design.
