Lézé, Paris, No. 1330, circa 1840. Extremely fine and rare, silver and gilt bronze eight day going, quarter repeating Grande and Petite Sonnerie carriage clock with alarm, date and chronometer escapement, in original fitted traveling case. Notes This outstanding carriage clock can be compared with the best of Breguet’s production. According to Charles Allix in "Carriage Clocks", Antique Collector’s Club, 1974, Lézé was a maker of the carriage clock platform escapement (spring detent), who succeeded Blondeau, Horloger du Roi, 19, rue de la Paix, in Paris. The present clock shares some characteristics with a magnificent carriage clock which Blondeau sold to the Duke of Vallombrosa.
