Daniel de Saint Leu, Watchmaker to Her Majesty, London, circa 1790. Very fine 18K varicolored gold pair-cased, quarter-repeating watch. Outer: double body, "Louis XVI", the bezels with applied high-relief varicolored floral and foliage decoration, the back centered with an elaborate flower urn. Inner: double body, "bassine", with pierced and bright-cut engraved foliage decoration. White enamel with radial Islamic numerals. Gold "poker and beetle" hands. 41 mm., hinged gilt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring and English gilt brss pierced and engraved cock with ruby end-stone. Quarter repeating on a bell by depressing the pendant. Gilt brass dust cap.Signed on the dial, back plate and dust cap.Diam. 59 mm.
