Marvin, Swiss, circa 1910. Fine and amusing 18K gold and cloisonné enamel keyless dress watch. Three-piece, sharp edges, back decorated in cloisonné enamel in opaque and iridescent enamels in yellow, green, red, orange and black, depicting a stream with water plants and a large applied gold realistically painted lady bug, the bezels, pendant and bow with champlevé blue and green stripes, wide pendant smoothly integrated with the case and bow. Silver with champlevé Arabic numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary sunk seconds. Blued steel "Roman" hands. Notes The decoration of this watch is typical of the transitional period between the Art Nouveau and the Art Deco periods. Such watches were often exported to Argentina and Uruguay.Marvinwas a brand name of Albert Didisheim & Frères of La Chaux-de-Fonds, who were successors to H.A. Ditisheim, established in 1850 in St. Imier.
