Charles Frodsham, AD. Fmsz, 84 Strand, London, No. 08442, hallmarked 1895-96.Exceptionally fine and rare large 18K gold half-hunting, keyless, minute-repeating watch with chronograph and 60-minute register. Four-body, massive, "bassine et filets", polished, gold hinged cuvette, olivetted pin-setting, swiveling anti-theft pendant. Notes It is because of famous large Frodshams such as this one that J.P. Morgan chose this type of watch to give as a presents. Both the case and the movement are of the highest quality. The case was made by A.T. Oliver, whose best workman was Bamford. He was the only one allowed to stamp his cases, and he did so with a very small letter "B" to do so. The movement, made by Frodsham, Nicole Nielsen and Piguet in collaboration, is superbly finished.
