Production of this reference started in the 1960's.Fine tonneau-shaped, water-resistant, stainless steel gentleman's wristwatch with round buttonchronograph, registers and tachometer, dial marked "King-Of-Wings". Accompanied by a stainless steel Oyster bracelet. three-body, polished and brushed, screwed-down case back and crown. satiné silver with applied steel tritium-coated indexes, auxiliary "guilloché" dials for the seconds, the 12-hour and 30-minute registers, outer tachometer graduations. "Bâton" tritium-coated steel hands. Notes Ref. 6238This reference, so-called by collectors the "Pre-Daytona" was produced in stainless steel and in 14 and 18K gold. It was published for the first time in the Rolex catalogue for the Italian Market in 1964 and remained there until 1967.
