Patek, Philippe & Cie. , Genève, No. 5758, made in 1851, sold to Tiffany & Co, New York, on August 20, 1853.Fine and very rare 18K gold miniature watch, entire movement weighing 2.4 grams. Accompanied by Extract from the Archives. Four-body, "bassine et filets", spring-loaded back engraved with fine scrolling, gold hinged cuvette with winding and setting apertures. White enamel, Roman numerals, outer minute track. Blued steel Breguet hands. Notes There was a tremendous difference in price between a regular-sized watch and a miniature one, reflecting the amount of time, to say nothing of the skill, necessary to produce such a small mechanism.
