Produced in the early 1960's.Very fine and unusual, flat, water-resistant, 18K white gold mid-size wristwatch, with an 18K white gold Omega buckle. two-body, solid, polished, screwed-down case back, curved lugs, faceted sapphire crystal. off-white with applied white gold indexes. “Bâton” blued steel hands. Cal. 540, copper colored, 17 jewels, straight line lever escapement, monometallic balance, shock-absorber, self-compensating flat balance-spring.Dial, case and movement signed.Diam. 31 mm. Notes The original “Damier” was created in 1959 for Neiman Marcus in Dallas, Texas, for US$ 10'000. Its dial was made from a rare 7 1/2 carat-diamond and was over an inch in diameter. The diamond came from a fabulous collection of gems originally belonging to a royal family. In the early 1960's Omega launched this model, a replica of that unique watch, made in yellow and white gold, with a faceted sapphire crystal..
