Jean Drouynot a Poitiers, France, circa 1660. Very fine and rare small silver single-hand pre -balance spring hour-striking coach clock. Two-body, "bassine", with deep back with curved-in edge, band pierced and engraved with flowers and foliage, polished back, loose ring pendant, split bezel. Silver, hinged, champlevé bold radial Roman numerals separated by small rosettes, inner quarter hour ring, center engraved with flowers. Blued steel large fleur-de-lis hand. 64 mm., gilt metal, full plate with baluster pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, plain brass balance with flat balance spring (originally pre balance sping foliot), single-footed cock, worm gear mainspring set-up, striking train driven from a fixed barrel, silver count wheel on back plate, striking on a large bell with single hammer.Signed on the movement.Diam. 84 mm.
