Continental, 19th century. Unusual tiger maple and oak Secretaire à Abattant with a stepped top over a drop front enclosing an arrangement of five graduating short drawers to each side centered by a long drawer with stenciled initials over a prospects door painted with portrait bust of a royal officer flanked by spindle mounted document drawers and four small graduating drawers to each side, all with bone turned pulls, the exterior with three long drawers with inlaid escutcheons and individual locking mechanisms raised on short square tapered legs. Height 46.5", width 42.25", depth 17.25".
