Illinois Watch Co. Springfield, "Sangamo Special", Model 13, No. 4758686, made in 1925.Very fine, 14K solid gold, 60-hour going, 23 jewel, Railroad Grade watch with a 24-hour Montgomery dial. Four-body, triple-hinged, "bassine carrure ronde", polished back, reeded decoration on bezels, band chased with strap work, gold cuvette, solid bow. White enamel, bold Arabic numerals, inner 24-hour (13 to 24) red track, outer open line minute track with one-minute Arabic markers (5-minutes in red), sunk subsidiary seconds. Blued steel "Diamond" hands. Notes Around 1910, Illinois concentrated on the production of higher grade watches and introduced the "Sangamo Special", its highest grade. At the time, the present gold-cased "Sangamo", cost approximately $150.00. The combination of an unusual Montgomery dial and a solid gold 60-hour "Sangamo" is quite rare. 17 size watches are rare, and are almost always cased in the factory.
