Produced in the 1990's.Very fine and unusual self-winding 18K yellow gold gentleman's wristwatch with “wandering hours”, featuring epicycloidal disc hour indication, with an 18K yellow gold Audemars Piguet buckle. three-body, solid, polished and brushed, transparent back, stepped bezel, sapphire crystal. white sector for the five-minutes scale with painted Arabic numerals and indexes, guilloché gold, the hours indicated on three translucent sapphire discs rotating on a revolving rhodiumed wheel. Cal. 2124, rhodium-plated, “fausses-côtes” decoration, 33 jewels, straight line lever escapement, monometallic balance adjustedfor heat, cold, isochronism and 5 positions, shock-absorber, self-compensating flat balance-spring, 21K goldrotor segment.Dial, case and movement signed.Diam. 36 mm. Notes Audemars Piguet's “Star Wheel” watch is reminiscent of the 17th century “wandering hours” dial, with hours indicated within an aperture. The epicycloidal system was first employed by the Campani brothers of Rome, who used it in their nocturnal clocks during the second half of the 17th century.
