Breguet No. 1177, sold on 29 Thermidor, an 1805, to Monsieur X (probably M. de Haute-Roche, to whom the watch belonged in 1824) for 1600 Francs.Very fine 20K gold, dumb quarter repeating watch with jumping hour hand, accompanied by a certificate. Four-body, "forme collier", by Gros, No. 278, engine-turned with fluted band and loose ring pendant, the back centered with a small monogram, hinged gold cuvette. Notes The date this watch was sold is not recorded in the Breguet books, but according to the signature (Breguet only, without mention of the son) it was made before 1801 and therefore is certainly among the first to be made with the new caliber incorporating the jumping hour mechanism.See a copy of the original sale records regarding the watch in "A.L. Breguet, Watchmaker to the Kings", Thomas Engel, 1994, p. 195.
