L(angley) Bradley, London, circa 1710. Very fine silver pair-cased watch. Both: two-body, "bassine", polished, swivel pendant. Silver, champlevé radial Roman numerals, outer minute ring with five-minute Arabic markers on polished oval cartouches. Blued steel "beetle and poker" hands. 41 mm, gilt full plate with pierced tulip pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, plain steel balance with flat balance spring, single-footed cock with streamers and straight foot.Signed on dial and movement.Diam. 57 mm Notes Bradley, LangleyApprenticed in 1651, he became a member of the Clockmakers' Company in 1695, and was Master from 1726 to 1738. A famous watch and clockmaker, he made clocks for St. Paul's, London, circa 1706, and for St. Giles', Edinburgh. In 1738 he was appointed keeper of St. Paul's clock. Watches of his making are in the Soane Museum and the British Museum.
