Wild Horse Patek Philippe & Co. W GENEWIE, No. 5604, made for the Polish market in 1851, sold on September 28, 1852, accompanied by the Extract from the Archives. Very fine and rare 18K gold keyless watch with very early Philippe keyless winding mechanism. Four-body, “bassine et filets”, the back finely engraved with a wild horse against a woodland background, reeded band, gold hinged cuvette. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, secured by two small screws. Blued steel Breguet hands. 40 mm. (18’’’), Cal. 9, frosted gilt, cylinder escapement, hanging barrel, three-arm gilt balance with flat balance spring, Philippe’s 3rd winding/setting system. Signed on the cuvette and on the movement under the dial. Diam. 45 mm. Notes One of the earliest watches with the Philippe keyless winding and setting system. It was thanks to this system that Patek took him into the partnership.
