Fine and rare 18K gold and enamel pocket watch, accompanied by the Extract from the Archives. Four-body, “bassine et filets”, back finely engraved and filled with black champlevé enamel, depicting Hetman Stanislaw Zólkiewski engine-turned background, reeded band, gold hinged cuvette. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions, secured by two small screws. Blued steel Breguet hands. 40 mm. (18’’’), Cal. 4, frosted gilt, cylinder escapement, three-arm gilt balance with flat balance spring. Signed on the cuvette. Diam. 45 mm. Notes Stanislaw Zolkiewski (1547-1619) Is one of the most heroic figures in Polish history. An accomplished general, a skilful diplomat, and a patriot, he excelled in all private and public virtues. He wrote an important history of his Muscovite campaigns.
