Notes Thomas Reid (1762 - 1823)Was a practicing watchmaker as well as the author of one of the most popular and best written horological works of the period, "Treatise on Clock- and Watchmaking", which was published in 1826. He took over the business of his master James Cowan. In 1806 he moved to larger premises and took as partner William Auld.
