Patek i Spólka w Genewie, No. 1390, made for the Polish market in 1845, sold to Mr. J. Seifert on April 16, 1847. Extremely rare and fine 18K gold hunting-cased slim keyless watch with very early Philippe keyless winding/setting system. Four-body, “bassine et filets”, with coin edge, engine turned covers, gold hinged cuvette. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions, secured by two screws. Blued steel Breguet hands. 38 mm. (17’’’), Cal. 15, frosted gilt, cylinder escapement, three-arm gilt balance with flat balance spring. Signed on the cuvette, movement punched with the maker’s trademark under the dial. Diam. 45 mm. Notes Adrien Philippe’s new keyless winding system was first used in either watch No. 1181 or No. 1163. However, the majority of their watches still implemented the old key-wound system. This watch is therefore one of the very few surviving early Patek watches with Philippe’s new winding system.
