Exceptionally fine and rare 18K gold keyless early minute-repeating double train keyless watch with independent dead seconds. Four-body, all hinged, "bassine et filets", engine-turned back with elaborate initials "CP" repeated in mirror image, gold hinged cuvette, early round pendant. White enamel, Roman numerals, outer minute divisions with five-minute/seconds Arabic markers. Blued steel "spade" hands. Notes Letter dated May 10, 1845,from Auguste Casimir Perier 1811-1878, future French Minister of the Interior 1871-72, to Louis-Clément Breguet, containing pointed and highly interesting commentary on a watch he bought from Breguet.
