Jacob Molly, Geneva, circa 1650. Extremely fine and rare, 22K gold, enamel and amethyst-colored faceted glass, single-hand, lady's pendant watch with concealed dial. 26 mm., gilt brass full plate, turned baluster pillars, short four-wheel train with five-leaf pinions, fusee and gut-line, verge escapement, steel two-arm circular foliot, elonated gilt brass cock pierced and engraved with floral decoration secured by a screw, worm and wheel mainspring setting.Signed on the movement.Diam. 34 mm.Published in the Sandberg book, pages 62-63. Notes This watch was previously in the collection of the King of aples and subsequently in the Lord Sandberg Collection see Antiquorum, April 1, 2001, Lot. 214. Jacob Molly also Moly was a watchmaker working in Geneva in the mid-17th century, he became Master watchmaker in 1630. He taught pupils jercelat in 1662, and Jean Duboule in 1663. Only four pieces with amethyst-colored glass are known to have survived.
